The Town of Eagle
As the premier family-oriented community in Eagle County, it is clear that The Town of Eagle is the kind mountain home that people desire and seek from far-and-wide. The Town’s recent growth rate is astronomical. As Mayor of Eagle, what I am most proud of is that through years of 10% growth, the core of what makes this town special has strengthened.
For being 100 years old last year, we are a thriving, young community. Half the Town residents have lived in Eagle for 5 years or less. Newcomers have confirmed and enhanced the close-knit place to which they arrived, and added to its distinction. I think people love Eagle because it is no “gateway” to somewhere else. Eagle is its own place.
A 2004 survey by the Northwest Council of Governments found Eagle to have the highest “quality of life” rating of any town surveyed in the state of Colorado.
We have a strong tradition of events in Eagle. The Flight Days parade, the last weekend in June kicks off a weekend of activities that continues through the summer and fall. A variety of parks spread out through various neighborhoods host outdoor concerts, soccer games and private parties. There is a rich history of Winter events, including Christmas on Broadway and Twelfth Night, and a week-long retail event created just last year by downtown merchants. These activities bind the old with then new. The Town of Eagle is proud of the Eagle Valley Chamber of Commerce’s faithful representation of local businesses for more than 70 years. The two entities have enjoyed a long history of partnership in event coordination and planning.
Historic Broadway and the main Town Park are in revival through 2006 and 2007. The Town is poised to spend more than half a million dollars per block enhancing the pedestrian-friendly streetscape, and roughly $5 million overall. Merchants and developers are responding to the retail renaissance of Broadway which started with the building of a new town hall several years ago.
I am proud that Eagle is a town of neighborhoods,—the kind of distinct neighborhoods most of us envision as the core of middle-class America that are so rare anymore. Half of the households in Eagle have children under the age of 18.
In the two elementary schools, it is obvious that parents are involved in the neighborhood schools and on any warm afternoon most of the parks are full of kids involved in sports.
As represented by six elected Trustees, a Mayor and seven appointed members of the Planning and Zoning Commission, and a dedicated and seasoned staff, we at the Town have high expectations for new development; that like Eagle Ranch, which brought a 130 acre park, a public golf course and many miles of interconnected recreation trails, what is new to Eagle enhances what is already good about our town. Please visit, and see for yourself.

The Town of Gypsum
While the Town of Gypsum is steadily growing, it is also becoming a progressive place to live and work. As Mayor, I am committed to serving and protecting our citizens’ quality of life with strong leadership that supports opportunities for business, recreation and our children. I have and will continue to support policies that reflect this vision.
The Eagle Valley Chamber of Commerce has done a great job of supporting residents and businesses in our community. It has done so by providing services that allow people to achieve a higher quality of life. This directory is one example of the Chamber’s commitment to businesses in Gypsum. You can show your commitment by patronizing the businesses displayed in it.
On behalf of the Gypsum Town Council and staff, I want to commend the Eagle Valley Chamber of Commerce for its commitment to the success of our residential and business communities. I urge you to use this business directory as a way of demonstrating your own commitment to the economic vitality of Gypsum.
